OVERVIEW

These are Active Autowerke's hand-made Signature S63/N63 downpipes for the twin-turbo V8 BMW X5 M, X6 M, 550i, 650i, X5 and X6 models. Turbo impeller wheel speed is mostly limited by exhaust back pressure, so these downpipes are built with the least restriction possible — full 3" piping throughout with the fewest bends achievable — letting the turbo spool faster and more effortlessly for quicker engine revs and increased horsepower, while the hand-made 304 stainless steel construction delivers trouble-free performance with the longevity to match. This version carries a pair of 4.5" ultra high flow GESI G-Sport Ultra High Output catalytic converters, whose full 304 stainless construction and proprietary precious-metal loading greatly reduce emissions and eliminate most check engine lights, outperforming stock units.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

None. Active Autowerke supplies the bolts, copper locking nuts and gaskets needed to fit these downpipes.
Required at checkout: your VIN, so that Speed Logic can supply the correct version — 2010–2012, 2014+, or the G-body (N63B) set.

Installation

Active Autowerke N63TT downpipe set installation instructions (PDF) — covers the pre-04/2011 V8 twin-turbo applications that use hex bolts and nuts to secure the downpipes to the rest of the exhaust system.
Active Autowerke — Catalytic Converter Break-In Instructions (PDF) — follow this procedure on the new cats to avoid a check engine light appearing in error.

Notes

Fitment varies across these chassis — provide your VIN when ordering so we can confirm the correct downpipe set.
May take up to 2 weeks before shipping, as these downpipes are custom made in-house.
Please note that G-body vehicles with the N63B engine will need a different version of the downpipe — if you are buying a downpipe that also fits the F body cars, it will not fit your vehicle. Active is always doing R&D to ensure that you get a product with the proper fit.
Please Note: These catalytic converters are not legal for use on vehicles registered in the state of California as a result of California Vehicle Code Section 27156 and 38391.
NOTE: Federal law prohibits the tampering of an emissions control device. Mobile Source Enforcement Memorandum 1A, allows for aftermarket parts to be used in the repair or replacement of emissions control systems, provided the emissions aren't adversely affected. There is no mention or reference to cell density or converter volume dimension. The GESI catalytic converter will produce emissions that will meet the standards set by the EPA, not CARB.
Active Autowerke builds three versions of this downpipe set — 2010–2012, 2014+ and G-body (N63B) — and the F-body set will not fit a G-body car. The models above are the ones named by Active Autowerke for this part. Provide your VIN at checkout and confirm fitment with Speed Logic before ordering.
