Dinan Adjustable Coilover Suspension System – BMW M5 (F90)

OVERVIEW

The Dinan High Performance Adjustable Coil-Over Suspension System was developed in the race lab and refined on the street. It replaces the factory springs with a more aggressive set and adds threaded collars so ride height can be dialed in front and rear, delivering a substantial reduction in body roll along with less dive under braking and less squat under acceleration. The design retains and works exclusively with the F90 M5's factory electronic (EDC) dampers, replacing the progressive-rate rear springs with a more predictable linear-rate design; Dinan-spec progressive bump stops and helper springs manage up to two inches of front drop and 2-1/8 inches at the rear, though Dinan recommends 1 inch front and 1-1/8 inch rear to retain the ride quality its suspension kits are known for.

Suspension packers are included so bump-stop clearance can be fine-tuned for handling and comfort. The adjustable components are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and black anodized for corrosion protection, and the stock upper spring mounts are retained for quiet operation.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• Factory BMW electronic (EDC) dampers. This is a Stage 1 coil-over kit that works only with the car’s original electronic shocks; no dampers are supplied and Dinan states it must not be used on other applications.
• Tire and fender clearance evaluation. Dinan requires the installer to verify clearance under all conditions before the car is driven, particularly at the lower end of the adjustment range.
• Four-wheel alignment — Speed Logic recommends a full alignment after installation and after any later ride-height change.
• Installer-supplied tools: spring compressor, torque wrench and the standard BMW suspension service tools.

Notes

• Due to the extensive lowering possible and the increased suspension travel, the installer must carefully evaluate tire clearance under all situations. Safety will be compromised if all precautions are not taken. Dinan is not responsible for any property damage or injury.
• Dinan currently catalogs D190-0901 for the 2018–2023 F90 M5, while the supplied installation document (Rev 06/10/19) covers the 2018–19 F90 M5. Confirm your model year and that your car has the factory electronic dampers with Speed Logic before ordering.
