Eventuri Black Carbon Intake System – BMW M340i (G20, B58)

OVERVIEW

The Eventuri BMW G20 B58 intake has been developed to give the turbo a less restrictive flow path while maintaining low inlet temperatures. Heat and volume are the main considerations when designing an intake for a turbocharged engine. In the G20 the intake sits next to the exhaust manifold, which rapidly heat soaks the engine bay, and high temperatures hurt performance because the turbo has to build boost with heated, less dense air. The only way to keep IATs to a minimum is a fully sealed intake — but sealing the system leaves only one factory air feed to draw from. During development Eventuri identified an additional opening into the wheel well area and took advantage of it with a secondary feed into the airbox.

Crafted from prepreg carbon fiber, the airbox serves two objectives: to seal the filter against engine bay heat, and to provide a dual cold air feed. The airbox encapsulates the filter while still offering a large internal volume, with a recess to clear potential strut braces. A laser cut plate with a rubber sealing strip secures to the airbox so the intake tube can pass through without letting heated air in, and an additional heat shield with a gold reflective layer on the exhaust manifold side combats radiant heat transfer.

The stock convoluted intake tube is replaced with a smooth carbon tube of larger internal volume that tapers down to match the turbo inlet, providing an uninterrupted path from the filter. The system finishes with a custom high flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and offers a larger filtration area than the stock element.
