Evolution Racewerks Competition Catless Downpipes – BMW X3M / X4M (F97 / F98, S58)

OVERVIEW

Evolution Racewerks Competition Series Catless Downpipes are built for the BMW S58 twin-turbo engine and fit the 2020 and newer X3M and X4M. They are constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel with mandrel bent 3" piping, TIG welded in house and built in the USA. The factory turbine housing uses a 3.5" V-band flange, which Evolution Racewerks duplicated and CNC machined from billet 304 stainless steel, and the O2 sensor bungs and laser cut brackets are TIG welded with stainless rod. The O2 sensors stay in the factory locations and the factory donut flange design is retained, so the set is fully bolt on.

Exhaust restriction costs horsepower and torque on a turbocharged engine, and the factory catalytic converter is the biggest offender. Its honeycomb catalyst forces exhaust gas through a fine weave and creates turbulence downstream that slows flow further. Replacing the factory catalyzed downpipes with the Competition Series catless units raises the peak power curve, brings torque in earlier and holds it longer, and sharpens throttle response and turbo spool.

The downpipes are designed to fit the factory exhaust or an aftermarket system with no compatibility issues. They ship with a brushed finish by default.

• Evolution Racewerks does not publish a downloadable installation guide or parts checklist for these downpipes. Installation is rated 3 out of 5 for difficulty and follows the factory downpipe removal procedure.
