Active Autowerke GESI Catted Downpipe – BMW 230i / 330i / 430i (B46, G2x)

OVERVIEW

BMW introduced a new valvetronic, single-turbo version of its direct-injection engine for the later F-chassis models beginning in 2016, continuing into the G-chassis cars, and the restrictive OEM downpipe holds much of that potential back — slowing exhaust flow and, with it, turbo spool. The Active Autowerke B46 Signature downpipe for the 230i, 330i and 430i uses 3-1/2 inch stainless steel piping for more power, quicker spool and durability, with a stainless flex joint feeding into the ball flare that meets the OEM exhaust system. This variant includes a 4 inch high-flow GESi G-Sport Ultra High Output catalytic converter whose proprietary precious metal loading reduces emissions while keeping flow high, so power is maximized without triggering CELs or failed emissions tests.

Additional Parts Required

• None. Active Autowerke specifies no additional hardware for this downpipe; it bolts on with no cutting or welding required.
• Optional: Active Autowerke offers this downpipe in a version supplied with a turbo flange gasket. A fresh turbo-to-downpipe gasket is worth having on hand if the factory gasket is not reusable.

Notes

• Please note: These catalytic converters are not legal for use on vehicles registered in the state of California as a result of California Vehicle Code Sections 27156 and 38391.
• Note: Federal law prohibits the tampering of an emissions control device. Mobile Source Enforcement Memorandum 1A allows for aftermarket parts to be used in the repair or replacement of emissions control systems, provided the emissions aren't adversely affected. There is no mention or reference to cell density or converter volume dimension. The GESi catalytic converter will produce emissions that meet the standards set by the EPA, not CARB.
• Active Autowerke builds two versions of this downpipe because the bracket locations changed part way through production: one for G-series cars built to 08/2020 and one for 2021 and newer G-series cars. Select the variant that matches your car's build date. Fitment applies to US-model cars only; Active Autowerke cannot guarantee fitment to non-US model cars.
