OVERVIEW

The aFe POWER Momentum GT cold air intake replaces the restrictive factory airbox on BMW's B46/B48 turbocharged four-cylinder with a sealed one-piece roto-molded housing and a CAD-designed, dyno-tuned roto-molded intake tube. aFe records maximum gains of +13 horsepower and +12 lbs. x ft. of torque, with the system out-flowing the factory intake by up to 11%.

The smooth one-piece (patent pending) sealed housing draws through an auxiliary air scoop to ensure the coolest intake charge available, and a large clear sight window allows the filter to be inspected without disassembly. A durable aluminum heat-shield panel is secured to the housing to protect it from turbocharger heat.

Inside sits an 8-inch tall, 360-degree radial flow Pro DRY S air filter built from three layers of progressively finer porosity synthetic media - oil-free, washable and reusable. The patent-pending filter-to-housing interface allows the largest possible filter while simplifying assembly. Premium stainless steel clamps and a silicone bellow coupling finish the kit, and no cutting or drilling of factory parts is required.

Additional Parts Required

  • None. aFe POWER specifies no additional hardware for this intake system - it is a complete bolt-on kit that reuses the factory mass air sensor and mounting points.
  • Installer-supplied tools: metric socket and wrench set, Torx driver set, flat-blade screwdriver and pliers.
  • Optional service item: a dry-media filter cleaning kit for periodic maintenance. Pro DRY S filters are cleaned dry and must never be oiled.
