OVERVIEW

The BMS Oil Catch Can for the N54 BMW traps the oil mist that the crankcase ventilation (PCV) system routes back into the intake on the boost side. Stopping that vapor before it reaches the turbo inlet, intercooler and charge pipes helps prevent oily intercoolers, carbon buildup on the direct-injected N54's intake valves, and the drop in effective octane that oil-contaminated air can cause under boost.

Each can is machined from a solid block of aluminum with no welds and finished in black anodizing. A triple-baffle separator pulls oil out of the airflow without clogging or needing service, while oversized inlet and outlet ports avoid restricting the factory closed-loop PCV system. It bolts in with supplied hardware in roughly 20 minutes, is fully reversible, and is emptied by unscrewing the base or using the 1/8" NPT drain port – typically every 3–6 months or at oil changes.
