Burger Motorsports Competition Cold Air Intake for Pure 900 Turbo – BMW M240i / M340i / M440i (Gen 2 B58)

OVERVIEW

The Burger Motorsports Competition Cold Air Intake for Pure 900 Turbo is built specifically for Gen 2 B58 powered BMW M240i, M340i and M440i models, including xDrive, that have been upgraded with a Pure Turbos Pure 900 turbocharger.

It keeps the clean OEM+ look of the standard BMS Competition intake while delivering the airflow a Pure 900 needs. The airbox lid has a clear window for quick filter inspection, the intake retains the OEM cold air inlet, and a large opening on the cold side of the airbox adds a second cold air source along with more induction sound. The factory heat shield is reused to keep intake air temperatures low. The factory rubber accordion hose and resonator are replaced by a smooth 4" intake tube that runs straight to the Pure 900 turbo inlet.

Inside the airbox is the BMS proprietary 4" outlet renewable inverted cone filter, which has a built-in velocity stack so air enters the system more smoothly. Velocity stacks are used in most racing applications. A welded-on 0.75" (19mm) PCV fitting for oil catch can setups is available as an option.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• Pure Turbos Pure 900 turbocharger (Gen 2 B58), required. This intake only fits vehicles with a Pure 900 upgrade turbo installed. Contact Speed Logic to order the turbo.
• Factory heat shield modification, required. The OEM intake heat shield must be trimmed slightly to clear the 4" intake tube.
• B58 turbo and intake heat shield, recommended by Burger Motorsports. Contact Speed Logic for availability.
• Oil catch can, optional. Only needed if you choose the PCV fitting option.
• Filter cleaning and oil kit, optional. The renewable filter is cleaned and re-oiled rather than replaced. Contact Speed Logic for availability.
• Tools: basic hand tools, plus hex drivers for the supplied M4 and M6 button head screws and a cutting tool for trimming the heat shield.

• Pure 900 version: the steps match the standard Competition intake, except that the 4" tube and 90° coupler connect directly to the Pure 900 turbo inlet, and the factory heat shield must be trimmed before final fitment.

Notes

• Fits Gen 2 B58 engines with a Pure 900 turbo only. Not compatible with the stock turbo or with Gen 3 B58 (2025+) engines.
