Dinan Cold Air Intake – BMW 335i / 435i / M2 / M235i (2012-2018)

OVERVIEW

Efficiency and maximizing the potential of the stock intake design were the keys to development for this N55 intake. The sealed system delivers as much cold outside air as possible to the engine through an optimized carbon fiber tube that mimics the stock pipe but with a straighter, freer-flowing design. The increased air volume feeds a larger airbox and filter that elicit a sporty tone, making the intake sound as good as it performs.

The bolt-on install takes about an hour and the kit is covered by Dinan's warranty program.

• +10 HP and +15 lb-ft on F22/F23/F30/F32/F33/F34/F36 platforms, without additional modifications
• +8 HP and +6 lb-ft on the F87 M2, without additional modifications
• Optimized carbon fiber intake tube — straighter, freer flowing than stock
• Larger-volume, fully sealed airbox for maximum insulation from power-robbing heat
• Enlarged cylindrical air filter with deep-pleat multi-layer cotton media and steel wire mesh support
• Larger-diameter mass air meter (MAF) included in the airbox lid assembly
• Improved throttle response and a sportier intake tone
• Install time: approximately 1 hour
• Warranty: remainder of the BMW new-car limited warranty up to 4 yr / 50,000 mi (parts and labor) if still under factory warranty; otherwise 2 years, unlimited mileage. Filters excluded as a wear item.
• Emissions: not legal for sale or use in California — CARB testing pending. CARB EO D-176-56 covers 2012–2015 F30 335i only. EPA-legal under the EPA Tampering Policy (Nov 23, 2020).

Additional Parts Required

• None. Dinan specifies no additional purchased parts and no tune — the published gains are achieved with no other modifications.
• Customer-supplied tools: 8mm wrench and a #30 drill bit (the install uses blind rivets).
• Service item (not required at install): replacement air filter D401-0020.

• F33 435i Convertible, F23 M235i Convertible and F87 M2 require a brace modification during install (steps 21–26) using the supplied cover plate and edge trim — no separate purchase needed.

• M Performance-equipped versions of the vehicles listed above are also covered. The F87 M2 Competition (S55) uses a different Dinan intake.
