Dinan Cold Air Intake – BMW 230i / 330i / 430i (F22/F23/F30/F31/F32/F33/F34/F36)

OVERVIEW

Following the path set by its six-cylinder counterpart, the Dinan cold air intake for the B46/B48 four-cylinder improves on the factory design with a larger, fully sealed airbox and a larger filter element, increasing flow, sharpening throttle response and reducing strain on the turbocharger. The factory intake tube carries internal baffling and a small Helmholtz chamber to suppress sound, and both create turbulence that costs power; Dinan developed a carbon fiber tube that removes those restrictions and lets the intake tract breathe. On an otherwise stock vehicle the finished system produces 6 HP and 6 lb-ft at 5000 RPM.

The intake is built entirely from carbon fiber rather than the mix of materials used on earlier four-cylinder kits, and the grade of material and its coating have both been improved over previous generations so the engine bay still presents well years later.

• Emissions, per Dinan: legal under the provisions of EPA’s Tampering Policy dated November 23, 2020. This product is NOT LEGAL FOR SALE OR USE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA — CARB testing is pending, and no Executive Order number has been issued (Dinan Emission Code 7).
• Dinan warranty: if the vehicle is still covered by the BMW new-car limited warranty, the part is warranted for the remainder of that coverage, limited to 4 years / 50,000 miles; otherwise 2 years, unlimited mileage from the date of original purchase. Wear items, maintenance parts and fluids are excluded.
