Dinan High-Performance Heat Exchanger – BMW M2 / M3 / M4 (F8x)

OVERVIEW

Heat is the enemy of performance on the S55. In stock trim the cooling system heat soaks after only three pulls, intake air temperatures climb, and the ECU pulls power to prevent detonation. Dinan's high performance heat exchanger carries 60% more core volume and 19% more face area than stock at 40mm thick (vs. 24mm stock) — sized deliberately so it doesn't restrict airflow to the main radiator behind it — and in Dinan's testing the car resisted heat soak through seven pulls, more than twice the effectiveness of stock.

The larger exchanger drops water temperature to the intercooler by an average of 9 degrees across the RPM range, which in turn allows the intercooler to cool intake air by an additional 6 degrees on average. That reduction is worth 10 HP and 20 lb-ft with no change to the engine tune, and unlocks further power when paired with the Stage 3 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner where applicable.
