Eventuri Black Carbon Intake System V2 – BMW M340i (G20, B58)

OVERVIEW

The BMW G20 B58 Eventuri intake was developed to give the turbo a less restrictive flow path while keeping inlet temperatures low. In the G20 the intake sits next to the exhaust manifold, which rapidly heat soaks the engine bay, and a turbo forced to build boost with heated, less dense air gives up performance. The only way to keep IATs to a minimum is a fully sealed intake, which normally creates a restriction because there is just one factory air feed to draw from. During development Eventuri found an additional opening into the wheel well area and added a secondary feed to the airbox, and maximized airbox volume with a recess left for potential strut braces. The convoluted stock intake tube is replaced by a smooth carbon tube of larger internal volume that tapers down to match the turbo inlet, finished with a custom high-flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filtration area than stock.

Crafted from prepreg carbon fiber, the airbox serves two objectives — to seal the filter against engine bay heat and to provide a dual cold air feed. Because the airbox sits next to the exhaust manifold it is critical that the filter be fully sealed, so Eventuri designed the box to encapsulate the filter while still providing a large internal volume. A laser cut plate with a rubber sealing strip secures to the airbox and seals around the intake tube where it passes through, preventing heated air from entering. An additional heat shield with a gold reflective layer on the exhaust manifold side combats radiant heat transfer.
