Eventuri Carbon Air Box Lid w/ Filters – BMW X3M / X4M (F97/F98)

OVERVIEW

The X3M / X4M intake setup fitted by BMW looks awkward at first sight, but it is a well designed system for the space available. The flow path from the filters to the turbo inlets is very direct and does not change direction as abruptly as most OEM airbox designs. Rather than a complete redesign, Eventuri focused on improving the factory airbox with less restrictive flow and better temperature efficiency.

Eventuri developed drop-in replacement filters made from non-woven mesh with a much higher flow rate than the stock paper elements. To reduce inlet air temperatures and force air into the airbox, large carbon front scoops sit behind the grilles and channel air into the ducts, effectively de-restricting the inlet side of the airbox. The final piece is the carbon airbox lid; while Eventuri states the lid does not itself add performance, it allows a more audible induction sound and gives the engine bay a significant aesthetic improvement.
