Pure Drivetrain Solutions ZF 8HP76 Stage 1 Transmission Rebuild – BMW M3 / M4 (G80/G82)

OVERVIEW

This is a build service performed on your own ZF 8HP76 unit, not an outright sale of a new transmission. Pure Drivetrain Solutions completely disassembles the transmission, washes the casing and housings, inspects every hard part and checks the case for cracks or damage before the unit is reassembled with upgraded internals.

The Stage 1 build is Pure Drivetrain Solutions' entry-level package for the G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4. Clutch hubs are heat treated and modified, upgraded clutches and steels are fitted throughout the transmission, and the clutch baskets are heat treated and hard anodized. A race torque converter with a billet stator, upgraded race frictions and an increased clutch count can be added as an option.

Additional Parts Required

• Your transmission core. Pricing covers rebuilding the unit you send in. If you do not have a core to send, contact Speed Logic before ordering — core purchase is quoted separately.
• Freight both ways. Shipping the core to Pure Drivetrain Solutions and the finished unit back is not included in the listed price.
• Post-install TCU adaptation / re-learn. Pure Drivetrain Solutions calls for the transmission re-adaptation (re-learn) process to be run after installation, which requires a scan tool capable of ZF 8HP clutch-fill adaptation. Installer supplied.
• Transmission fluid, pan and filter are already included with this rebuild — no separate fluid or filter kit purchase is required.
• Pure Drivetrain Solutions does not specify a transmission flash or TCU tune as a requirement for this rebuild.
• Installer-supplied transmission jack, lift and standard driveline service tools for removal and refitting.

• Fluid level must be checked with the transmission fluid between 40°C and 50°C, per the PDS fluid fill procedure.
• Break-in: run the re-adaptation procedure if possible, then complete roughly 500 miles of easy stop-and-go driving, cycling up and down through the gears. PDS states that cruising on the highway will not properly break in the clutches.
• Pure Drivetrain Solutions does not publish a vehicle-specific removal and installation manual for this unit. Removing and refitting a ZF 8HP transmission is a specialist job and should be carried out by a qualified transmission shop.
