OVERVIEW

The SP series is Injen Technology's flagship traditional aluminum intake line. Injen produced the world's first tuned air intake system and holds four patents covering the intake tuning process, including MegaRam (MR) Technology (patents 7,359,795 and 7,669,571) and Air Fusion (patent 7,721,669). The SP1116 is a two-piece short ram system built with MR Technology for the S55 twin-turbo six.

Each 6061-T6 aluminum intake tube feeds one turbo through a smooth, uninterrupted path in place of the restrictive factory airbox. Because the S55 runs a pair of turbochargers, the kit ships with two application-specific heat shields — driver and passenger side — to isolate both filters from radiant underhood heat. Injen developed the system on the dyno for gains of up to 20 horsepower and 23 lb-ft of torque, the largest figures in the SP BMW range, while holding a safe air/fuel ratio across the power band, so no additional tuning is required.

Air is drawn through a pair of fully serviceable Injen SuperNano-Web dry filters, which add filtration surface area for greater airflow without an oiled media. The polished aluminum tubes are a clean showpiece under the hood, and the system delivers an aggressive, throaty tone under full throttle. Made in Pomona, California and backed by the Injen Technology Limited Lifetime Warranty.
