KW Coilover Kit Variant 3 (V3) 2-Way Adjustable – BMW X5 / X6 (F15 / F16)

OVERVIEW

The Variant 3 is KW's two-way adjustable coilover and the one most people actually want. Compression and rebound are on separate adjusters, so you can firm up body control without also killing rebound compliance, and ride height is continuously adjustable across the kit's range. It is the sensible step up from a spring-only kit and a large step up from the factory strut.

These SUVs run on air springs from the factory, which sag over time and eventually leak. The V3 replaces the rear air suspension outright with a rebuildable, height-adjustable, damping-adjustable coilover, front and rear.

This listing covers the standard F15 X5 and F16 X6 (not the M performance models — see our separate X5 M / X6 M listing for those). Per KW's own published fitment, 352200AL is the kit for cars without factory Electronic Damper Control (EDC); 352200AM is the Bundle for X5s ordered with factory EDC and includes KW's ESC/EDC cancellation module. KW does not publish an EDC/Bundle configuration for the non-M X6 (F16) — every F16 X6 in KW's fitment data uses 352200AL.

Additional Parts Required

• An X5 (F15) ordered with factory EDC needs 352200AM (Bundle); it already includes the ESC/EDC cancellation module, so no separate module purchase is needed. KW's published fitment does not offer 352200AM for the non-M X6 (F16) — every F16 in KW's data takes 352200AL.
• A corner-balance and a full four-wheel alignment are required after installation, and matter even more on an AWD SUV. Budget for both before the vehicle is driven.

• In brief: the factory rear air struts come out and the coilover replaces them; the ESC module plugs into the OE damper connectors on 352200AM; set ride height inside KW's published range, then corner-balance and align.

Notes

• Deleting the factory rear air suspension removes self-leveling and load compensation. This is expected with a coilover conversion.
