KW DDC ECU Coilovers – BMW 1 Series Convertible (E88)

OVERVIEW

The KW DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) ECU coilover suspension combines electronically adjustable dampers with full ride-height adjustability. A dedicated KW control unit gives three damping programs that can be changed on the move by button or smartphone app: Comfort, Sport for spirited driving, and Sport+ for a very sporty, performance-oriented setting.

Ride height is adjusted independently of the electronic damping, so stance and damper character are set separately. The struts use KW's inox-line stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance and long service life on the E88 1 Series Convertible.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• Four-wheel alignment. A full alignment is mandatory after installation and after any subsequent ride-height change.
• Professional installation. This kit combines suspension work with an electronic control unit installation and vehicle wiring; it should be fitted by a qualified shop.
• Control unit mounting and 12V wiring. The DDC ECU must be mounted and wired into the vehicle exactly as shown in KW's instructions.
• Tire-to-strut and fender clearance check. Verify clearance through full steering lock and suspension travel before driving, especially with aftermarket wheels, tires or spacers.
• Headlight levelling / ride-height sensor. Cars fitted with self-levelling xenon headlights carry a ride-height sensor link on the axle; it must be checked and re-indexed after lowering.
• Spring compressor and standard suspension service tools are supplied by the installer.

• KW lists order number 39020003 for the 1 Series Convertible, type 182 / 1C — the E88 body. E82 coupe models take a different KW order number. Please confirm your exact chassis and build date with Speed Logic before ordering.
