Mishimoto Performance Heat Exchanger – Toyota GR Supra (A90) / BMW Z4 (G29)

OVERVIEW

Air-to-water intercooling is standard equipment on the B58, and BMW and Toyota integrated the charge cooler directly into the intake manifold of the A90 GR Supra and G29 Z4. That maximizes charge-cooling efficiency, but the factory front-mounted heat exchanger that rejects the absorbed heat leaves room on the table. The Mishimoto Performance Heat Exchanger replaces it with a larger, stronger, all-aluminum unit.

Mishimoto redesigned the part from the ground up, discarding the plastic components and building the end tanks, core and inlet/outlet ports from aluminum with TIG-welded joints. Strutted tubes are incorporated throughout the core to resist bowing and flexing under hard cornering and sustained boost.

The core itself grew 31% in volume and 48% in external fin surface area. Combined with the dual-pass flow configuration and louvered fin design, Mishimoto recorded a 5-7°F drop in intake air temperatures along with a more consistent global intercooler coolant temperature. The heat exchanger is supplied in a natural aluminum finish and carries the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• Trimming required. Mishimoto specifies that the factory transmission cooler tabs must be removed for proper fitment. No additional purchased hardware is required.
• Coolant to top off the intercooler circuit after installation (installer-supplied).
• Installer-supplied tools: 2.5mm Allen key, E14 and T30 Torx bits, 8mm / 10mm / 13mm sockets, flathead screwdriver, pick tool and a cutting tool. Mishimoto quotes roughly 5 hours for the job.
