SPL Front Tension Rods – BMW M3 / M4 (G8x)

OVERVIEW

SPL Parts Tension Rods (TR) give the BMW G8X a wide range of front caster adjustment, allowing precise alignment for optimal turn-in response and letting you compensate for left-to-right caster variance. Low friction, smooth articulating FK spherical bearings replace the soft factory rubber bushing for a far more responsive steering feel, and anti-dive geometry can be tuned with the supplied stainless steel spacers.

Billet 2024 aluminum hex rods are precision CNC machined and gun drilled to cut unsprung weight while maintaining high strength and stiffness. SPL's exclusive 360 degree Rotating Clamp design gives easy access for quickly and precisely locking in your alignment settings, and blue anodized titanium hardware saves further weight while offering superior strength.

FK rod ends are manufactured in Connecticut. The JMX is an upgraded hardened rod end used here for added strength, with a Teflon liner for quiet operation, low friction and smooth articulation that eliminates bushing deflection under load. The PTFE liner is chemically bonded to the inner diameter of the race, giving very high load carrying capacity and greatly improved dynamic wear characteristics.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• Four-wheel alignment after installation — mandatory. Caster and toe both change when the tension rods are fitted.
• Professional installation is recommended; these are safety-critical front suspension links.
• Corner weighting is recommended for track use.
• To use the full caster range on a lowered car, pair these with adjustable front lower control arms: SPL BMW G8X Front Lower Control Arms M3/M4.
