XClutch 8" Twin Disc Clutch Kit (Sprung Ceramic) – BMW 135i / 335i / Z4 (N54, 6-Bolt)

OVERVIEW

XClutch's 8 inch twin-disc kit is the sprung-hub alternative to the 9 inch rigid twins. Two sprung ceramic discs carry twin-disc torque capacity while the sprung centers absorb driveline shock, so the car keeps far more of its street manners than a rigid-hub race clutch allows. For a high-power N54 that still sees daily use, this is the more livable twin.

XClutch specifies this kit for the 6-bolt crankshaft N54, used from February 2009 production onward. A chromoly performance flywheel is included in place of the factory dual-mass unit.

Additional Parts Required

• None. XClutch supplies the chromoly flywheel, release bearing, pilot bushing, bolts, alignment tool and spline grease in the kit.
• Break-in is required. XClutch specifies driving the vehicle gently for the first 1,000 km (roughly 620 miles), avoiding aggressive launches; low-rpm engagements bed the friction material in properly.
• XClutch recommends inspecting the concentric slave cylinder while the transmission is out and replacing it if worn, since the labor is already committed.
• Professional installation; transmission removal is required.

Notes

• 6-bolt crankshaft only. XClutch states this kit suits the 6-bolt crankshaft N54, production from February 2009 onward. 2009 model-year cars can have either crank, so verify your crankshaft bolt count before ordering.
