Active Autowerke Equal-Length Gen 2 Mid Pipe – BMW M3 / M4 (F80 / F82)

OVERVIEW

Active Autowerke's Gen 2 Equal Length (EL) mid-pipe replaces the earlier F80 M3 and F82 M4 EL mid-pipe, which is no longer available for sale. The twin turbo S55 has almost a foot and a half of difference between its front and rear bank downpipe lengths, giving unevenly spaced pulses and the higher pitched weed eater note owners describe. Rather than correcting that behind the differential housing, which would have required a completely new rear exhaust, Active Autowerke adds length to the passenger side mid-pipe and uses a patented crossover with sinusoidal pipes to equalise the lengths before mixing — delivering the note expected of a six cylinder sports car while retaining your existing rear exhaust.

Additional Parts Required

• None. Active Autowerke specifies no additional hardware for this part — it installs between the downpipes and the existing rear exhaust.
• Cars running catless (straight-through) downpipes: Active Autowerke strongly recommends the resonated version of the EL mid-pipe. Owners running the BMW MPE or CS exhaust should also strongly consider the resonated version.
• Gen 2 upgrade program: original purchasers of an earlier EL mid-pipe may be eligible for an upgrade. Proof of purchase required — contact Active Autowerke for details.
