OVERVIEW

The engineers at Bilstein created the ultimate race-inspired suspension: the B16 DampTronic. This kit delivers ride-height adjustability with dampers that are compatible with the OE electronic damping system, so all of the active features of the factory electronic suspension — along with the factory controls — are retained after installation.

The threaded damper bodies allow accurate adjustment of the front and rear progressive-rate springs, so you can set vehicle ride height, center of gravity and handling balance exactly where you want them. The B16 system puts you in complete control, providing the kind of precise suspension tuning formerly available only on race cars — from a weekend of competition to daily driving.

This kit fits rear-wheel-drive F22/F23 (228i, 230i, M235i, M240i), F30 (320i, 328d, 328i, 330i, 335i, 340i) and F32/F33/F36 (428i, 430i, 435i, 440i) models fitted with factory electronic suspension.

Additional Parts Required

• Factory electronic suspension is required. This kit is only for cars originally equipped with the OE adaptive/electronic damping system — cars without it need a conventional kit such as the Bilstein B14 (PSS) Coilover Kit or the Bilstein B16 (PSS10) Coilover Kit.
• Bilstein specifies no additional hardware beyond the kit itself.
• A four-wheel alignment is mandatory after installation — changing ride height alters camber, caster and toe.
• Professional installation is strongly recommended. Spring compressors and BMW strut tooling are required, and the front strut assemblies are under spring load.
• The damper control cables must be routed and connected as shown in the installation instructions; the ride-height sensors must be checked and re-set after installation.
• Re-check ride height and re-torque the fasteners after the springs have settled, then re-align the car if the height is changed again later.
