OVERVIEW
The CSF Race-Spec Oil Cooler is the world's first and only true plug-and-play upgraded engine oil cooler for the N55 engine in the BMW F87 M2. It uses an innovative 2-core in-series system: the front full-size core carries 17 cooling tubes against the OEM's 15, and a secondary backside cooler adds a further 6 rows of cooling in series.
Both cores are built with CSF's AC condenser technology, using a 1-row super-high-pressure 26mm multi-channel microtube and a high-density multi-louvered fin design for maximum surface area contact. CSF track tested the system in 103°F ambient conditions (115°F heat index) and recorded a maximum oil temperature of 240°F — down from the 275–280°F limp-mode territory the same car reached on the OEM cooler under identical testing.
Fitment is a true drop-in, accepting all attaching OEM components including the oil-line connections, mounting brackets and shroud/ducting.

TECH RESOURCES
Additional Parts Required
- Approximately ½ quart of additional engine oil. The CSF system holds more oil than the factory cooler — fill to roughly 7.5 quarts versus the OEM 7 quarts. Supply the correct BMW-approved grade for your engine.
- No other additional hardware is required. CSF specifies a true drop-in fit using the OEM oil-line connections, mounting brackets and ducting.
Installation
- CSF does not publish a downloadable installation PDF for this part. Printed installation instructions are supplied in the box.
- Installation requires no modification to the vehicle; the cooler reuses the OEM oil-line connections, mounting brackets and shroud/ducting.
- Re-check the oil level after the system has been filled and run up to temperature to account for the increased capacity.
Notes
- CSF's current published application table for #8104 lists 2016–2018 F87 M2 (N55); the previous store copy said 2016+. This part is for the N55 M2 only — it does not fit the S55-powered M2 Competition or M2 CS. Confirm fitment with Speed Logic before ordering.
