Evolution Racewerks Lower Intercooler Charge Pipe – BMW 535i / 640i (N55, F Series)

OVERVIEW

The Evolution Racewerks Lower Intercooler (LIC) Charge Pipe replaces the factory soft rubber/plastic lower charge pipe on the N55 single-turbo engine, a part that is prone to splitting under elevated boost. In its place ER supplies a lightweight, mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum pipe sized to match the intercooler outlet at 2.5 inches.

Charged intake airflow characteristics are often overlooked, yet they directly affect throttle response, turbo lag and ultimately maximum power potential. Smooth bends and minimal obstructions are ideal, and because airflow tends to travel along the outer edges of a pipe, hard piping matters: the LIC keeps a constant inner diameter and will not balloon or collapse the way a rubber hose does. The result is better throttle response and reduced turbo lag.

The pipe retains a factory-style o-ring lock flange, precision CNC machined for a leak-free connection at both the turbocharger and the intercooler, so connection and disconnection stay as quick as stock rather than relying on the silicone hose and clamp arrangement used by most aftermarket charge pipes.
