OVERVIEW
The H&R Street Performance Coil Over pairs a custom-valved shock with a precision-engineered progressive-rate H&R spring, so damping and spring rate are matched to each other rather than mixed and matched. The result is the balance of handling and ride comfort H&R aims at for everything from a daily driver to a seriously tuned street car.
Every damper uses a fully threaded shock body, so ride height is set continuously rather than in fixed steps and can be fine-tuned corner by corner. Across the Street Performance line H&R quotes an average height-adjustable range of 1.0 to 2.5 inches. The dampers are mono-tube gas units built from premium materials for a lower center of gravity and improved control.
On the E90 / E92 M3 the kit gives a usable adjustment window of roughly one to one-and-a-half inches at the front and up to about an inch and a third at the rear, so the car can be set anywhere from a mild street drop to a properly low stance.

Additional Parts Required
- Damper configuration check — confirm whether your car is fitted with factory Adaptive M Suspension / Electronic Damping Control. H&R releases separate part numbers for electronically damped cars, and this kit should only be fitted to the damper configuration H&R lists it against.
- Four-wheel alignment — H&R requires the wheel alignment to be checked and reset any time vehicle ride height is changed. Budget for a full four-wheel alignment immediately after installation.
- Professional installation — H&R states that its springs and suspensions should be installed by professional suspension mechanics only. Improper installation voids the H&R warranty.
- Bumpstop trimming (application dependent) — some H&R part numbers require the front and/or rear bumpstops to be trimmed to a specified length. Check this part number against the trim chart in the H&R technical information sheet linked below before you start.
- Wheel and tire clearance check — verify clearance at the fender, strut and inner arch at full lock and full compression, particularly with aftermarket wheel and tire packages.
- Installer-supplied tools: coil spring compressor for strut and shock disassembly, torque wrench, and the standard BMW suspension service tools.
Installation
- H&R Technical Information & Installation Guide (PDF) — H&R's technical sheet covering spring identification and markings, dead and tender coils, ride-height measurement, the bumpstop trimming chart by part number, and alignment requirements.
- H&R Warranties & Claims (PDF) — official H&R warranty terms, coverage periods and claim procedure.
- Vehicle-specific fitting instructions are supplied in the box with the coil over kit. H&R does not publish a separate per-application installation PDF for this part.
Notes
- Lowering figures are approximate and are measured from stock ride height. Confirm fitment and damper configuration for your exact model year with Speed Logic before ordering.
