H&R Street Performance Coilover – BMW 325xi / 328xi / 330xi / 335xi xDrive (E90/E91/E92, N52/N54/N55)

OVERVIEW

The H&R Street Performance Coil Over pairs a custom-valved shock with a precision-engineered progressive-rate H&R spring, so damping and spring rate are matched to each other rather than mixed and matched. This application is engineered specifically for the AWD "xi" variants of the E90 sedan, E91 Sport Wagon and E92 coupe — valved and geometrically dimensioned around the xDrive front subframe and driveline, which a RWD-only kit cannot substitute for.

Every damper uses a fully threaded shock body, so ride height is set continuously rather than in fixed steps and can be fine-tuned corner by corner. The dampers are mono-tube gas units built from premium materials for a lower center of gravity and improved control, with H&R quoting an average height-adjustable range of 1.0 to 2.5 inches across the Street Performance line.

Additional Parts Required

• xDrive-specific part — this kit is valved and dimensioned for the xDrive/xi all-wheel-drive subframe and driveline; it is not interchangeable with H&R's RWD-only kit for the same chassis.
• Four-wheel alignment — H&R requires the wheel alignment to be checked and reset any time vehicle ride height is changed. Budget for a full four-wheel alignment immediately after installation.
• Professional installation — H&R states that its springs and suspensions should be installed by professional suspension mechanics only. Improper installation voids the H&R warranty.
• Bumpstop trimming (application dependent) — some H&R part numbers require the front and/or rear bumpstops to be trimmed to a specified length. Check this part number against the trim chart in the H&R technical information sheet linked below before you start.
• Wheel and tire clearance check — verify clearance at the fender, strut and inner arch at full lock and full compression, particularly with aftermarket wheel and tire packages.
• Installer-supplied tools: coil spring compressor for strut and shock disassembly, torque wrench, and the standard BMW suspension service tools.

Notes

• Model-year coverage compiled from H&R's own fitment chart and cross-checked at Turner Motorsport, USP Motorsport and Achtuning: 325xi and 330xi were single-model-year-2006 AWD trims before BMW replaced them with 328xi for the 2007 model year; 335xi carried the N54 twin-turbo through the 2010 model year and switched to the N55 single-turbo for its final 2011 model year (the E90/E92 xi lineup ended when the F30/F31 replaced it for 2012); the E91 Sport Wagon was sold in the US market only as the 328xi, model years 2009–2012.
