H&R Springs

H&R Super Sport Spring – BMW 228i / M235i xDrive Gran Coupe (F44, B46/B48)

OVERVIEW

H&R Super Sport Springs sit a step below the Sport Spring in ride height and a step up in attitude. They use the same high-tech progressive rate design, so the car keeps its ride comfort while carrying a deeper, more aggressive stance than the Sport kit gives.

As with any H&R lowering spring, dropping the F44 Gran Coupe lowers its center of gravity and reduces body roll, which improves chassis balance and driver confidence.

H&R manufactures every spring in-house from a special 54SiCr6 spring steel and shot-peens it to increase service life by more than 200 percent, so the set will not settle or sag the way lesser coil springs do. Each spring is 100 percent tested before it leaves H&R's ISO9001-certified production facility in Germany, and the company holds both TÜV and ISO9001 quality certification.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

  • Damper configuration check — confirm whether your car is fitted with factory Adaptive M Suspension / Electronic Damping Control. H&R releases separate part numbers for electronically damped cars, and this kit should only be fitted to the damper configuration H&R lists it against.
  • Four-wheel alignment — H&R requires the wheel alignment to be checked and reset any time vehicle ride height is changed. Budget for a full four-wheel alignment immediately after installation.
  • Professional installation — H&R states that its springs and suspensions should be installed by professional suspension mechanics only. Improper installation voids the H&R warranty.
  • Bumpstop trimming (application dependent) — some H&R part numbers require the front and/or rear bumpstops to be trimmed to a specified length. Check this part number against the trim chart in the H&R technical information sheet linked below before you start.
  • Wheel and tire clearance check — verify clearance at the fender, strut and inner arch at full lock and full compression, particularly with aftermarket wheel and tire packages.
  • Installer-supplied tools: coil spring compressor for strut and shock disassembly, torque wrench, and the standard BMW suspension service tools.

Installation

  • H&R Technical Information & Installation Guide (PDF) — H&R's technical sheet covering spring identification and markings, dead and tender coils, ride-height measurement, the bumpstop trimming chart by part number, and alignment requirements.
  • H&R Warranties & Claims (PDF) — official H&R warranty terms, coverage periods and claim procedure.
  • Vehicle-specific fitting instructions are supplied in the box with the spring set. H&R does not publish a separate per-application installation PDF for this part.

Notes

  • Lowering figures are approximate and measured from stock ride height. Because Super Sport Springs sit lower than the Sport Spring kit, check wheel, tire and bumpstop clearance carefully. Confirm fitment for your exact model year with Speed Logic before ordering.
