KW H.A.S. Height Adjustable Spring Kit – BMW M5 (F90)

OVERVIEW

H.A.S. stands for Height Adjustable Spring kit. It is springs only: the factory dampers stay in the car, and each spring perch is adjustable so you can set the drop precisely instead of accepting whatever a fixed lowering spring gives you.

The reason it exists is the electronics. On an adaptive-damper M car, replacing the dampers means dealing with the EDC circuit — either a bundled coilover kit with cancellation modules, or fault codes. H.A.S. sidesteps that entirely. Because the OE dampers and their sensors are untouched, no ESC or EDC cancellation module is required and the car sets no damper faults. Drive-mode damper control keeps working exactly as it did.

This is the kit for an owner who wants the stance and the reduced center of gravity without giving up the factory adaptive damping or its warranty story. If you want adjustable damping as well, look at the V4 coilover kits for the same chassis instead.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

  • Nothing electronic is required. The OE dampers are retained, so no KW ESC or EDC cancellation module is needed.
  • A corner-balance and a full four-wheel alignment are required after installation. Budget for both before the car is driven.

Installation

  • Installation instructions: PDF.
  • In brief: the struts come out, the OE springs are swapped for the KW adjustable springs on the OE dampers, the perches are set to the target ride height, and the car is corner-balanced and aligned. The damper wiring is never disturbed.

Notes

  • Build-to-order with a 6–8 week lead time.
  • KW's own fitment data lists the M5 Competition specifically for 2019–2021 (not 2018–2023 as a full-run match to the base M5), and separately lists the M5 CS (2022) and M5 Edition 35 Years (2020) as their own distinct fitment rows, both previously missing from this listing. Confirmed directly against KW's fitment chart on 2026-09-03.
  • Price is for the item selected only; labor is not included.
