
OVERVIEW
Speed Logic stocks the NGK 96206 Laser Iridium spark plug for the BMW S58 and BMW B58 Gen 2 engines. It is a drop-in replacement suited to factory-stock cars and to tuned applications making power well past OEM levels, and it works with every common fuel setup — pump gas, E85 and methanol injection. NGK recommends this plug for upgraded hybrid turbo and single turbo builds as well.
The plug uses a fine-wire iridium center electrode with a platinum pad on the ground electrode for even wear in distributorless ignition systems. The laser-welded iridium tip is roughly six times harder than platinum, and a high-grade pure alumina ceramic insulator with a 98% pure copper core carries heat away from the firing end for reliable starts and resistance to overheating. NGK is the largest spark plug supplier in the world and develops plugs for OEM applications directly.
A note on sourcing: many sellers list similar NGK plugs at lower price points through marketplace channels. Unless the seller is an authorized NGK retailer, you may receive counterfeit plugs that do not behave the same way under load and boost as a genuine NGK plug. Counterfeits are common on eBay, Amazon, Walmart and similar channels, and we suggest avoiding those sources to protect your engine. Speed Logic only sells authentic NGK spark plugs.

Additional Parts Required
- None. NGK specifies no additional hardware for these spark plugs; they are a direct drop-in replacement.
- Installer-supplied tools: a 14 mm 12-point (bi-hex) spark plug socket, a torque wrench, and a feeler gauge if you intend to set the gap yourself.
- Gapping tool required if you are closing the gap from the factory 0.030" preset to the suggested 0.024". Order the pre-gapped option if you would rather Speed Logic set them.
Installation
- Torque these plugs to the BMW factory specification for your engine and always fit them with the engine cold. NGK does not publish a separate installation PDF for this part number.
