CSF Heat Exchanger & Transmission Cooler Module – BMW X3 M / X4 M (F97 / F98, S58)

OVERVIEW

The CSF #8331 Performance Cooling Module combines a front-mount heat exchanger and a dual-core automatic transmission cooler into a single assembly for the F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M. The heat exchanger shares its core size with CSF's G8X unit, and the module was developed following CSF's G8X cooling work and testing with MADE Motorsports in Las Vegas.

The heat exchanger replaces the OEM 1-row core and plastic, crimped tanks with a 42mm 2-row B-Tube core and fully TIG-welded all-aluminum tanks, while the transmission cooler moves from the OEM single-core layout to a dual-core, dual-pass design with a claimed 201% increase in core volume. CSF states the module significantly reduces intake air temperatures and improves airflow to the rest of the cooling system.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• None. CSF specifies no additional hardware for the X3 M / X4 M. The module connects to the factory transmission lines and coolant connections.
• Coolant and transmission fluid for top-off after installation (installer supplied).

Installation

• CSF does not publish a downloadable installation PDF for this part. Contact Speed Logic for installation support.
• CSF describes the module as a drop-in fit; minor positioning adjustments to the transmission lines may be needed.
• The transmission cooler is not a direct replacement for BMW 17 21 9 487 254 — it connects to the OE lines and mounts to the new CSF heat exchanger.

Notes

• CSF's product description also mentions the G01 X3 M40i and G02 X4 M40i, but CSF's fitment chart lists the F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M only. Pre-LCI M40i models built before 08/2019 use a liquid-to-oil transmission cooler and need additional factory parts to connect this cooler. Confirm fitment with Speed Logic before ordering for any M40i.
