OVERVIEW
Evolution Racewerks Competition Series Catless Downpipes are built for the BMW S63B44Tü twin-turbo V8 and fit the 2011 and newer M5 (F10) and 2011 and newer M6 (F12 / F13). They are constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel with mandrel bent piping, TIG welded in house and built in the USA. The factory turbine housing uses a 3.5" V-band flange, which Evolution Racewerks duplicated and CNC machined from billet 304 stainless steel; the O2 sensor bungs are CNC machined stainless and the brackets are laser cut and TIG welded with stainless rod.
Exhaust restriction costs horsepower and torque on a turbocharged engine, and the factory catalytic converter is the largest restriction in the system. Its honeycomb catalyst forces exhaust gas through a fine weave and creates turbulence downstream that slows flow further. Replacing the factory catalyzed downpipes with the Competition Series catless units removes that restriction, improving throttle response and turbo spool.
The factory flex bellows section is retained rather than deleted. A flex section lets the exhaust move so stress is not fed back into the exhaust manifolds, turbochargers and exhaust components, which matters on lowered cars where the system can be pushed upward on contact. Evolution Racewerks flex sections are 100% stainless steel, not stainless braid with steel caps, for corrosion resistance. The factory heatshields are also retained, and new O2 sensor sleeves are supplied so the heatshield seals exactly as it did from BMW, keeping underhood temperatures down.

TECH RESOURCES
Additional Parts Required
- None. Evolution Racewerks specifies no additional hardware for these downpipes; all installation hardware is supplied and the factory heatshields are reused.
- Optional O2 and EGT sensor bungs must be requested by email before the order is built.
- Installer supplies normal hand tools, a vehicle lift or stands, and penetrating oil for the factory exhaust fasteners.
Installation
- Evolution Racewerks does not publish a downloadable installation guide for these downpipes. They install in place of the factory catalyzed downpipes using the supplied hardware.
