HKS Hipermax S Coilovers – Toyota GR Supra A90/A91

OVERVIEW

Hipermax S is HKS's street coilover, and the one most GR Supra owners should start with. It replaces the factory dampers with a fully adjustable kit that rides better than stock on real roads while tightening up body control, and it lets you set the ride height you want rather than living with the factory gap.

The front uses HKS's inverted strut with a spherical-bearing (pillowball) top mount, which keeps stroke at lowered heights and resists the bending loads a strut sees under braking and cornering. The rear separates the damper and spring and uses a rubber upper mount for comfort. Both ends have 30 clicks of damping adjustment and height-adjustable lower brackets, so ride height is set independently of spring preload. Straight-wound springs make rate changes easy. HKS's Dual PVS valving and improved bump stop rubber cut harshness at higher piston speeds without blunting response.

The kit comes in two versions. 80330-AT023P is the coilover kit alone. 80330-AT023CP adds the HKS Suspension Error Canceler, which cars with the factory electronically controlled (adaptive) dampers need to avoid a dash fault once those dampers come out. These 80330-series part numbers replace the earlier 80300-AT023 and 80300-AT023C.

• 2.0 cars with conventional dampers (DB82): choose 80330-AT023P; no canceler is needed. 80330-AT023CP is not listed for DB82.
