OVERVIEW
The SPEC Stage 2 clutch kit uses a segmented or full-faced pure Kevlar disc with steel backing. The lining keeps the easy drivability of the Stage 1 but offers slightly longer life and higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility, and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. SPEC recommends it for street, drag, pulling and autocross use.
This is the ratcheting (SAC) version of the kit, so it bolts to the OEM dual mass flywheel or to an aftermarket billet single mass flywheel with the OE clutch pattern, such as the MFactory SMFW.

TECH RESOURCES
Additional Parts Required
- None. SPEC specifies no additional hardware for this kit — it runs on the OEM dual mass flywheel and includes its own pilot bearing, release bearing and alignment tool.
- Optional single mass flywheel upgrade (SAC pattern): SPEC 8-bolt steel SMFW SB53S (2007 – 1/2009), SPEC 8-bolt aluminum SMFW SB53A (2007 – 1/2009), SPEC 6-bolt steel SMFW SB53S-4 (2/2009 on) or SPEC 6-bolt aluminum SMFW SB53A-4 (2/2009 on).
- The MFactory flywheel options on this listing are MFactory parts, not SPEC parts — see the part numbers below.
- MFactory 6-bolt fitment note: on the MF-TRS-09E92A the 135i may require pressing out the center peg for proper fitment, because that flywheel covers more than one vehicle generation. Speak to Speed Logic before ordering if you would rather avoid that step.
- If the OEM dual mass flywheel is being reused it must be inspected and, where serviceable, resurfaced before the new clutch is fitted.
- Installer-supplied: transmission jack, new flywheel-to-crank bolts and BMW-specification transmission oil if the transmission is drained.
Installation
- SPEC does not publish a downloadable installation PDF for this application — follow the printed installation and break-in instructions supplied with the kit.
- Installation requires removal of the transmission and should be carried out by a qualified technician. Inspect the pilot bearing bore, clutch fork, release-bearing guide sleeve and slave cylinder while the transmission is out.
- Bed the clutch in with light, gradual engagements before applying full load.
Notes
- The current product title also mentions the 435i. SPEC does not list the 435i under SB532 — the F32 435i uses the SB553H family. Confirm fitment with Speed Logic before ordering. Flywheel bolt pattern also changes with production date: 8-bolt through 1/2009, 6-bolt from 2/2009.
- MFactory's own fitment for both flywheels is stated as 1-Series E8X 135i and 3-Series E9X 335i, manual transmission. MFactory publishes no flywheel for the N55, M235i or 435i.
- MFactory gives the 6-bolt cutoff as February 2009 production. Some dealer catalogs write it as January 2009, which leaves that month ambiguous — if your car was built in January 2009, count the flywheel bolts rather than going by the date.
