CSF Transmission Oil Cooler w/ Rock Guard – BMW M3 / M4 (G80/G82)

OVERVIEW

CSF’s high-performance transmission oil cooler for the BMW G8X M3 and M4 uses a dual-core design that delivers a 194% increase in core and tank volume and a 94% increase in fluid capacity over the factory cooler — 1700ml against roughly 875ml. Two stacked 22mm cores give 44mm of core thickness where the OEM cooler has 28mm.

The rear cooler runs 16 rows against the OEM 14, standing 191mm tall versus the OEM 155mm, and CSF adds a further 16 rows in a front cooler. The cores are built with CSF’s AC condenser technology using a 1-row super-high-pressure 16mm 9-channel microtube for optimal oil flow and maximum surface area contact.

It is a drop-in fit that reuses the OEM top and bottom rubber seals for optimal airflow and connects through OEM-style quick-connect fittings. A replaceable rock guard is included. CSF positions it for road racing, drag racing, and any car running increased power or transmission tuning, and it works either with the OEM cooling system or alongside CSF’s high-performance heat exchanger.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• None. CSF Radiators specifies no additional hardware for this part — it is a drop-in replacement that reuses the OEM rubber seals and quick-connect lines.
• Service items you supply: additional ZF8 transmission fluid. The CSF cooler holds roughly 1700ml against the OEM cooler’s ~875ml, so the system needs more fluid than a straight OEM fill.
• Optional pairing: CSF High-Performance Front Mount Heat Exchanger for BMW G8X M3/M4 (CSF #8215). Not required — the cooler also works with the OEM cooling system.

Installation

• CSF does not publish a downloadable installation PDF for this part. Printed installation instructions are supplied in the box with the cooler.

Notes

• ZF8 automatic transmission only — this cooler does not fit six-speed manual cars. Applications above follow CSF’s current official fitment table for #8221, which also covers the G87 M2 and the G81 M3 Touring in addition to the G80/G82/G83 models named in the product title.
