Evolution Racewerks Competition Catless Downpipe – BMW 230i / 330i / 430i / 530i (B46)

OVERVIEW

The Evolution Racewerks Competition Series 4" Catless Downpipe is built for the BMW B46 four-cylinder turbo engine and fits 2016 and newer 230i, 330i, 430i, 530i, X3 30i and X4 30i models. Replacing the restrictive factory catalytic converter and downpipe frees up exhaust flow, which Evolution Racewerks measures at 14 to 16 whp and roughly 20 wtq on stock boost, rising to over 24 wtq with a software upgrade. Gains vary with the rest of the vehicle's modifications.

The downpipe uses mandrel bent 4" piping and 100% stainless steel construction, TIG welded in house. The turbocharger V-band flange and the ball joint flange are CNC machined, and the ball joint interior is straight-flow rather than the factory press-formed shape. A stainless steel flex section is retained so the exhaust system can move without loading the turbocharger and manifold, and the improved factory-style "ball" V-band connector keeps the part compatible with the factory or an aftermarket exhaust.

The B46 engine is found in all U.S. spec cars. This downpipe is different from the one used on the B48 engine found in EU / Asia spec cars, and the two are not interchangeable. You must order the correct downpipe for your car.

• Installer supplies normal hand tools, a vehicle lift or stands, and penetrating oil for the factory exhaust fasteners.

Installation

• Evolution Racewerks does not publish a downloadable installation guide for this downpipe. It installs as a direct replacement for the factory downpipe using the supplied hardware.
