Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can Kit, CCV Side – BMW N20 / N26 228i / 328i / 428i (F2x / F3x)

OVERVIEW

On a direct-injection engine there is no fuel washing over the back of the intake valves. The crankcase ventilation (CCV) system routes oil-laden blow-by gas back into the intake, that oil mist lands on the valves and ports, and over time it bakes into carbon deposits that cost airflow and power. More boost means more crankcase pressure and a faster build-up.

A catch can sits in the CCV line and separates the oil out of the vapor before it reaches the intake. Mishimoto's cans are baffled with an internal filtering medium, so the gas is forced to change direction and the oil drops out and collects in the can, which you drain at service intervals. This kit is built for the four-cylinder N20 and N26 engine bay, xDrive cars included.

• A catch can does not clean valves that are already fouled. On a high-mileage engine, plan a walnut blast at the same time.

Notes

• Fitment restriction: does not fit cars ordered with the BMW Xenon headlight lighting package.
• Drain the can at regular service intervals. Check it at every oil change until you know how fast it fills.
