Mishimoto Performance Air-to-Water Intercooler, Black – BMW S55 M2 Competition / M3 / M4 (F8x)

OVERVIEW

The S55 cools its charge air with a top-mount air-to-water intercooler, and on a tuned car it heat-soaks quickly, pulling timing as intake temperatures climb. Mishimoto's replacement uses a TIG-welded bar-and-plate core with 29% more volume and cast aluminum end tanks with integrated air diverters.

Paired with Mishimoto's heat exchanger, it flowed 16% more air, cut intake temperatures by 12°F and averaged 11 whp and 8 wtq gains, with peaks of 31 whp. It works with the stock charge pipes or Mishimoto's, and carries CARB EO D-759-13.

Additional Parts Required

• None. The intercooler reuses the factory charge pipes.
• Coolant is not supplied. The job opens the low-temperature charge-air coolant circuit, so plan to refill and bleed it with BMW-approved coolant.
• Recommended pairing: Mishimoto Heat Exchanger MMHE-F80-15 and Mishimoto Charge Pipe Upgrade MMICP-F80-15, or the complete Mishimoto Air-to-Water Intercooler Power Pack (MMB-F80-PP).
