SPL Solid Differential Mount Bushings – Toyota GR Supra A90 & BMW G2X / G29 / G42

OVERVIEW

SPL Parts Solid Differential Mount Bushings replace the factory rubber differential mounts — a bushing known for tearing under hard driving and track use — with 6061-T6 billet aluminum pieces that hold the differential firmly to the subframe. On a tuned B58 the diff rocks in the subframe every time the throttle opens or closes, which shows up as driveline clunk, wheel hop on hard launches and a delay between throttle input and the car going.

The solid mounts stop that movement, so torque reaches the axles instead of being absorbed by rubber and shock loads stop being fed into the driveshaft and half shafts. The kit includes a bushing for the front of the differential and one on the subframe where the rear of the differential attaches. Toyota and BMW do not sell these bushings separately, so the kit is far cheaper than a new subframe.

Additional Parts Required

• A transmission jack or equivalent support is required — the differential must be lowered from the subframe to fit these.
• A press may be required to remove the original rubber bushing; check the installation instructions before starting.
• Professional installation is recommended; the differential and subframe must be supported safely while the mounts are changed.

Notes

• Solid mounts transmit differential and driveline noise into the cabin. Expect an audible increase in gear whine and driveline sound — this is the trade-off for removing the movement, and is normal.
