OVERVIEW

The Race X is CSF's largest B58 charge-air cooler manifold: a motorsports-grade bar/plate air-to-water core with 15 rows of water cooling, 25% more than the #8200 Super Manifold and more than double the OEM's 6 rows. The core can be run dual-pass or converted to single-pass or an ice-box setup through the -16 ORB bung on the front water end plate, which ships with a CNC machined plug for dual-pass use.

It was designed in SolidWorks using computational fluid dynamics, with an integrated air divider in the inlet tank to distribute airflow evenly across the core. A fuel rail for top-feed port injection is included, along with individual 1/8" NPT ports on each cylinder runner for nitrous or methanol, a sensor pad with two 1/4" and three 1/8" NPT ports, and breather ports on both water connections for easy bleeding. The KIYLEX thermal rejection spacer included with the kit acts as a thermal barrier between the cylinder head and the manifold and is proven to lower intake manifold temperatures by up to 15%.

SPECS

High-performance motorsports-grade bar/plate air-to-water intercooler core
25% larger than the standard Gen-2 B58 Super Manifold (CSF #8200) — 15 rows of water cooling versus 12 on the #8200 and 6 on OEM
Core can be configured dual-pass or single-pass; -16 ORB bung on the front water end plate also supports an ice-box setup, with a CNC machined plug supplied for dual-pass
Designed in SolidWorks using computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Integrated air divider in the inlet tank evenly distributes airflow throughout the core
Slotted mounting holes on the throttle body side for easier installation
Recessed design gives access to the spin-off oil filter without removing the manifold
Integrated sensor pad with two 1/4" and three 1/8" NPT ports for extra parameters or vacuum sources
Included fuel rail for top-feed port injection with CNC machined injector hats (qty 6)
Individual 1/8" NPT ports on the top of each cylinder runner for nitrous or methanol injection
Individual breather ports for both inlet and outlet water connections on the back of the manifold for easy air bleeding
Included KIYLEX thermal rejection spacer — a patented high-performance final-stage polymer that dissipates heat between the cylinder head and intake manifold, lowering intake manifold temperatures by up to 15% and reducing IATs
Pressure tested at 60–70 PSI during quality control; not designed to operate above 60 PSI
Finish: raw billet aluminum (CSF #8400) or thermal dispersion black (CSF #8400B); custom powder-coat, DLC and thermal finishes available as CSF #8400C
Machined by Custom Plenum Creations in Australia
Some modification required to install
2-year limited warranty to the original purchaser under normal use

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

None supplied separately by CSF — the manifold ships with its hardware kit, fuel rail and thermal spacer. Some modification is required during installation.
Port injection block-off bungs are not included; CSF supplies them separately on request if you are not running port injection.
48V mild hybrid cars require significant additional work, including the #8200S spacer, cylinder head shaving and an alternator modification.
Optional: nitrous or methanol plumbing for the runner ports, and sensors for the integrated sensor pad.

Installation

CSF does not publish a downloadable installation PDF for this part. The printed instruction manual with exploded diagrams and bill of materials ships in the box.

Notes

This is a racing product. It requires some modification to install and is intended to be fitted only by a skilled, experienced technician familiar with the B58 engine platform.
CSF pressure tests each #8400 manifold at 60–70 PSI for 2–3 minutes during quality control and inspection. The CSF manifold is not designed to operate above 60 PSI. Any user who chooses to operate their vehicle with the CSF manifold over 60 PSI does so at their own risk. Operation at these pressure levels will void the CSF limited 2-year warranty.
Gen 2 B58 engines only (B58B30M1, B58B30C and B58B30O1). This manifold does not fit the B58N (B58TU2 / B58B30M2). Model years equipped with the Gen 2 B58 vary by region — confirm your engine code with Speed Logic before ordering. Replaces OEM 11618647977 (BMW) and 17101-WAA01 (Toyota).
