HKS Dry Carbon Racing Suction Kit – Toyota GR Supra A90/A91

OVERVIEW

The factory GR Supra intake runs a corrugated rubber hose between the airbox and the turbo inlet. That corrugation creates swirl and resistance as air passes through, and the resin airbox sits right in the heat of the engine bay. The HKS Dry Carbon Racing Suction replaces that hose with a rigid 3K-weave prepreg carbon intake pipe and swaps the enclosed airbox for HKS's open-element Super Power Flow filter on a black-anodized aluminum back plate with a heat shield.

Carbon was chosen over the usual aluminum because it transfers heat far more slowly, so the pipe does not soak up engine-bay temperature between pulls. On HKS's flow bench the Racing Suction moves about 13 percent more air than the stock intake at 7 kPa, and the complete kit with heat shield weighs 2,131 g against 3,147 g for the factory parts — roughly a 1 kg saving. The turbo-inlet connection keeps the stock shape, the car stays on the factory ECU calibration, and the 100 mm pipe makes the back-turbine sound on lift-off much more pronounced.

TECH RESOURCES

• Required extras: none. This kit bolts on in place of the factory intake hose and airbox with no additional parts.
• If you add a blow-off valve later: cars running this intake should use the HKS Super SQV4 Blow Off Valve Kit 71008-AT022V, which includes the suction return kit made for the HKS intake.
• Upgrading to the enclosed airbox later: the HKS Cold Air Intake Box Kit 70026-AT003 fits over this intake without replacing any of it.

• Installation notes: bolt-on job with hand tools — the factory airbox and intake hose come out, the HKS back plate mounts in their place and the carbon pipe connects to the stock turbo inlet. Allow roughly one hour.
