MHD FlexFuel Kit (Automatic) – BMW F-Series B48 / B58 / N55 / S55

OVERVIEW

The MHD FlexFuel Kit for F Series cars with an automatic or DCT transmission enables the FlexFuel feature on MHD and EcuTek tuned vehicles. It covers the F Series B46, B48, B58, N55 and S55 engines.

A CAN Ethanol Content Analyzer (ECA) reads the signal from the E85 sensor, converts it to CAN format and sends it to the engine computer (DME). E85 is a fuel with a high octane rating; the FlexFuel feature is the tuning function that adjusts the tune on the fly to the ethanol content the ECA reports in the tank. Without the correct tune for the blend in the tank the engine will not run correctly and can be damaged.

Installation is straightforward with no wires to splice or solder. The kit is plug-and-play including connectors and fuel fittings, and every unit is tested before it ships.

TECH RESOURCES

Additional Parts Required

• An MHD or EcuTek tune with the FlexFuel option enabled. The kit supplies the ethanol reading; the tune does the work. Speed Logic stocks the matching MHD Super License for B58, N55 F-Series and S55.
• MHD Universal WIFI Adapter or another supported MHD interface, needed to flash the FlexFuel-enabled map to the car.
• E85 or an ethanol blend at the pump — the FlexFuel maps only make sense with ethanol available locally.
• Basic hand tools and a safe way to relieve fuel system pressure, supplied by the installer.
• No additional hardware beyond the above — MHD supplies the connectors, harness and fuel fittings needed for the install.
