OVERVIEW
The N54 and N55 are direct-injection engines, and on a modified car direct injection is the first system to run out of capacity. The high pressure fuel pump and the factory direct injectors have a finite ceiling, and once boost and airflow climb past it the engine runs out of fuel before the turbo runs out of air. Port injection answers that by adding a second, independent set of injectors upstream of the intake valves, mounted on their own rail and fed from the low pressure side of the fuel system. Direct injection keeps handling idle, cruise and part throttle exactly as the factory intended, and the port injectors are brought in under boost to supply the fuel the DI system can no longer deliver.
This is a plate-style kit. Rather than drilling and tapping the factory intake manifold runners, a machined injector plate is sandwiched between the cylinder head and the intake manifold, and the injectors spray from the plate into the runners immediately ahead of the intake valves. The manifold comes off and goes back on with OEM spec gaskets and stainless OEM style studs, and the port injection hardware sits in the joint between them. The kit is a Black Market Parts (BMP) product, sold by Precision Raceworks and catalogued under Precision Raceworks part numbers; it uses genuine Bosch Motorsport injectors that are flow matched to 2% or better, and every kit ships with a certificate of conformance recording the measured flow data for the injectors supplied.
Choosing a flow rate is a question of how much fuel the engine still needs once direct injection has given everything it has. The 750cc set is the choice for stock-turbo and moderately upgraded cars that need supplemental fuel to hold a target on pump gas or an ethanol blend. The 950cc set gives more headroom and suits larger upgraded or single turbo builds, and cars running full E85 where the higher volumetric demand of ethanol makes the extra flow worthwhile. The No Injectors option supplies the kit without injectors, for builders who already own a matched Bosch Motorsport set or whose tuner has specified a particular injector. Flow rate is the only option on this kit; Precision Raceworks does not offer a colour choice for the N54/N55 plate.

TECH RESOURCES
Additional Parts Required
- Supplemental injector controller, mandatory. Precision Raceworks state plainly that use of a supplemental pump controller is required; the factory DME has no output for these injectors and will not drive them. The EV6 connectors work with AIC and JB4 controllers, and we stock Motiv ReFlex Plus I/O Integration – BMW / Toyota A9x (Flying Lead) for this role.
- Upgraded low pressure fuel supply. Port injection is fed from the low pressure side, so the car needs an in-tank pump and supply capable of holding rail pressure at the target flow. Contact us for the correct pump for your chassis.
- Port injection feed line to run the supply from the low pressure system to the plate. Contact us for the correct line for your chassis.
- Extended intake manifold studs and OE spec intake manifold o-rings. The plate adds stack height between the cylinder head and the stock manifold, so factory length studs and used o-rings should not be reinstalled. Contact us for the correct hardware for your engine.
- Supporting tune, required. The port injectors must be commissioned and the fuel split calibrated. For N55 F-chassis cars: Bootmod3 N55 F-Series Tune – BMW M135i / M235i / 335i / 435i / M2 (N55) or MHD Super License – BMW N55 (F-Series). For N54 cars: MHD Super License – BMW N54.
- Piggyback option, if you are running a JB4 rather than a flashed tune: Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner – BMW 135i / 335i / 535i / 1M / Z4 (N54), Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner – BMW 135i / 335i / X5 / X6 (N55 E-Chassis) or Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner – BMW M2 / M235i / 335i / 435i (N55 F-Chassis).
- Ethanol content sensor, required if running E85 or an ethanol blend so the controller and tune can read fuel content. Contact us for the correct flex fuel hardware for your chassis.
Installation
- Precision Raceworks publish no PDF installation guide for this kit. The two videos below are the manufacturer's own installation coverage and are the reference material they provide.

Notes
- Injector flow rate changes the price and the part number; confirm the option you have selected before ordering.
- Port injection is a competition and off-road modification. It is not emissions compliant and is not intended for use on pollution controlled vehicles.
- Price is for the item selected only. Labor, tuning and any additional parts are not included.
- Fitment is published by engine family. Confirm your engine code before ordering, as the same model name can carry a different engine depending on market and model year.
