OVERVIEW

Pure Turbos’ New Pure1000 for the S55 M2/M3/M4 is supplied on an aftermarket housing built to the OEM design, so it installs plug-and-play and carries no core charge.

Each turbo uses a Pure Turbos upgraded billet compressor wheel, a larger and better-flowing turbine wheel for improved exhaust efficiency and an upgraded bearing housing for durability under high load, and is VSR high-speed balanced for smooth long-term running. Machined billet inlet snouts and silicone intake inlets are supplied for both the front and rear turbos. Pure rates the pair as capable of supporting 900+ whp, with results varying by supporting modifications and fuel type. Custom tuning is required.

Additional Parts Required

• A custom ECU tune is mandatory. Pure Turbos states: “DO NOT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE WITHOUT A PROPER TUNE.” Tune options we stock: MHD Super License for F-Series S55, bootmod3 S55 tune, JB4 Tuner for S55
• New gaskets and O-rings. Pure Turbos: “Always, use new gaskets and O-rings (where applicable).” These are not supplied with the turbocharger.
• No core charge is required for this version. If you order a remanufactured Pure upgrade instead, you may either pay a refundable core deposit and return your factory turbochargers within 60 days for a full refund, or send your turbochargers in for upgrading first and avoid the deposit altogether.
• Fueling headroom for the higher power targets: an E85 blend and an upgraded high-pressure fuel pump such as the Dorch S55 Lift Kit HPFP Upgrade. Pure’s own results at this power level were made on E85 and race fuel.

Installation

• Pure Turbos installation, pre-lube and break-in procedure (manufacturer FAQ): pureturbos.com/faq — pre-lube the turbocharger through the oil inlet, spin the compressor wheel to coat the bearings, idle 5–10 minutes without revving, then drive on low boost/light throttle until the car is properly tuned
• Pure Turbos core return sheet (PDF): pure-turbos-core-return-sheet.pdf — print it, fill it in and include it with your core shipment
• Professional installation is strongly recommended; turbocharger removal and refitting requires the correct torque specs, clean oil and coolant feed lines and a full oil service.
